It’s almost December and I am one of those people who loves this time of year! Our tree is up and the house smells so good. I am starting to prepare my Holiday Menu. You all know how that is just the highlight of my month. I love planning, testing, creating… what can I say, these are the things that excite me. This year, I am putting a Portuguese twist on our Christmas Dinner. I did this for Thanksgiving and I have to tell you, it was probably the best Turkey we have ever had. I marinated it in Port Wine, the Portuguese love their Port Wine, and stuffed it with oranges. When I tell you the house smelled incredible, it really did.
I am also excited to try a new Eggnog. When I was sent this recipe by the folks at Silk, the name alone made me want to try it. I am crazy about socks, I bet you didn’t know that about me. So imagine when I saw the name of this Eggnog Holiday Drink, Nog your Sox off. I just had to give it a whirl! What I loved most about this drink is that the eggnog is much lighter than traditional eggnog.
I’ve told you before that I incapable of following a recipe exactly, so in this case, I made a little change. Instead of adding nutmeg, I substituted cinnamon. Also, for the adult version, I added a splash of Port Wine… see how I just had to squeeze a hint of Portuguese Culture in there. It was fabulous. I can’t wait to share this Eggnog with my parents at Christmas this year. It will go perfect with all of my Mom’s Portuguese Desserts.
