I love long weekends and this one is truly a special one.  My second oldest is graduating from High School.  While age doesn’t play a very important role in my every day life, it is hard for me to imagine that I now have two children that have graduated from High School.  Yes, that old cliché is so true – Where has the time gone?

As much as I am sad that time flies by, I am so blessed to have so many amazing memories with all four of my children on a daily basis. Today’s #SundaySupper recipe is inspired by Ronnie.  He loves fruit and it is nothing for him to down an entire pint of blueberries or a whole pineapple.  This boy can live on fruit and one of his favorite treats is Fruit Salad with Lemon Port Honey Drizzle.

The Port Wine complements the Honey and when mixed with the juice of the lemon and the fruits, it is a beautiful thing.  This Portuguese inspired Fruit Salad with Lemon Honey Drizzle is a favorite for a picnic or any get together with family and friends.

I absolutely adore the blog, Happy Baking Days.  Katy is the mind behind this great blog and I just love that the reason she started her food blog was because she wanted to be part of The Sunday Supper Movement.  Katy inspires me with her recipes and writings.  She also has an incredible travel blog and gives us great insight to Britain.  She suggested a #SundaySupper Picnic theme and I couldn’t agree more!  It’s the perfect theme for memorial day weekend.

Thank you for such kind words, Isabel :) I don’t know how you do this – just hosting this event is plenty for me to try and keep up with, but it is so much fun! This is a gorgeous fruit salad and I love the port and honey drizzle – that is something I have to try!

When I do make fruit salad it is usually a mundane collection of cut fruit sprinkled with a little sugar and, if I am feeling daring, a spoon or two of balsamic. I love the idea of a port wine honey drizzle! Pinning to my Recipes to Try board!

I love this salad so much. And not just because of the wine. ;)

The deep flavor of the port is a great compliment to the fruit. Wonderful way to dress a fruit salad!

I always feel like fruit salads are overlooked as dessert but in a lot of cultures this IS dessert! Great recipe as always :)

Camille @ Growing Up Gabel May 27, 2013 at 2:14 am

I discovered Port just after I graduate from college and have loved cooking with it ever since. I love the idea to add honey and serve with fruit!

Courtney @ Neighborfood May 27, 2013 at 12:28 pm

Ummmm this is totally lovely! I’m like Ronnie–I can easily down a whole pint of blueberries without a second thought. And if they’re drizzled with honey port sauce, probably even more!

Nancy @ gottagetbaked May 27, 2013 at 6:30 pm

Congratulations, momma! You must be so proud of your kids. I hear ya about time flying by – I’m not a mom but I remember my nephews when they were born and now they’re 10 and 9 years old. I can’t believe it! I love fruit too and I’d be all over this salad, especially with that delectable port honey dressing. I’ve never even heard of a concoction like that before and it sounds delicious!

Lori @ Foxes Love Lemons May 27, 2013 at 10:23 pm

What BEAUTIFUL photos! They make me want to grab a fork and dive right in. Wow, your grocery bill must be high with your son eating that much fruit – but who could complain about that, right?

Jennie May 28, 2013 at 11:12 am

Congrats on graduating! I love the honey port drizzle on this salad. Yum!

Susan May 28, 2013 at 4:34 pm

I love fruit salad, I could eat it all the time. The port drizzle sounds like a great touch and perfect for dessert and a little change from the norm.
