Good Morning Friends! How was your weekend? Mine was very eventful. Ronnie and I spent the day at the University of Central Florida on Friday. Making a decision on college can be so hard. Is it better to go to a large school or a small school? How important is the school’s ranking in today’s economy? How important is to be close to home, but not too close to home? As a parent, we want to make sure we find the “perfect” school for our child. Is there such a thing? It is so hard to let go, when the time comes for our babies to leave for college and making the right choice is no easy task. I will tell you that a lot of praying has gone on in my house.
We spent Saturday in Vo-Vo’s Cozinha making Chorizo Bread. What a task baking bread is… kneading, rising, baking – lots of patience is required. But in the end, it was totally worth it. This Chorizo Bread was out of this world and the memories of Reis and Vo-Vo taking turns kneading the dough and giggling will last a lifetime.
This Sunday was one of the few Sunday’s that I wasn’t home for Sunday Supper. Ron and the boys were on their own. I had the honor of being invited to judge The Local Top Chef Competition, put on by Intensity Academy Hot Sauce and Local Shops1. This is my third year judging and it is such a great experience. I tend to think of the food we cook at home Around the Family Table as nourishment that not only feeds our families but fills them with love, inspiration and empowers them. Being around passionate chefs during this competition makes me realize the love, creativity and hard work that goes into the preparation of serving others.
I was inspired by the many beautiful dishes featuring the secret ingredient, Intensity Academy Garlic Goodness. There was some hot competition going on and Pipo’s Cuban Cafe won the competition with their Pork and Black Bean Croquette.
This week’s #SundaySupper Event hosted by The Foodie Army Wife featured Adventures in the Kitchen. It was a huge hit! I am always thrilled when I see #SundaySupper trending on twitter and this week was no different. Thank you for joining us and supporting our Sunday Supper Movement.
Have an awesome week filled with memories Around the Family Table!
